What a year 2020 has been. I remember many of us beginning the year with such optimism and big plans – but everything changed in March when COVID-19 began to impact the lives of every Canadian. Life hasn’t been the same since, but we still have accomplishments to be proud of in 2020 and many people to thank.

Third Positive COVID-19 Case at Cameco Fuel Manufacturing

On November 27, we became aware that a third Cameco employee from Cameco Fuel Manufacturing (CFM) in Port Hope has tested positive for COVID-19. The employee was last at work on November 24 and did not enter the workplace with symptoms. Cameco is providing the affected employee with support to ensure they have the resources they need. Our thoughts are with them and we hope that they recover well.

Cameco today announced it is accepting applications for the Cameco Fund for Mental Health. Now in its second year, the granting program will provide over $40,000, for mental health projects and programming in Northumberland County.

Cameco Restarting Production at Ontario Operations, Cigar Lake Status Unchanged

Cameco (TSX: CCO; NYSE: CCJ) announced today that it is resuming production at its Port Hope Conversion Facility’s UF6 plant and its Blind River Refinery in Ontario. Both operations are planned to restart the week of May 18, 2020 and achieve regular production levels the week of May 25, 2020.

Cameco (TSX: CCO; NYSE: CCJ) announced today that it is implementing a number of temporary operational changes at its fuel services division facilities in Ontario. The changes are due to the increasing challenge of maintaining an adequate workforce as a result of screening protocols and other measures put in place to align with the directives and guidance of government and public health authorities for the Coronavirus (COVID-19) health crisis.
