Cameco Fund for Mental Health awards 2025 grants to eight Northumberland County organizations

The Cameco Fund for Mental Health has awarded $49,000 to support eight mental health initiatives and organizations in Northumberland County. These grants aim to support a variety of organizations and mental health initiatives while benefitting a wide range of people living in our communities.

In June, Cameco held its 14th annual Cameco Charity Golf Tournament, raising over $34,000 with a sold-out tournament at Dalewood Golf and Country Club. This important annual event, along with donations and employee events, brings the total funding available to $49,000.

With the 2025 total of $49,000, the Cameco Fund for Mental Health has raised more than $450,000 since it launched in 2019. To date, 64 local organizations have received funding to advance mental health programs and initiatives in the community.

“Local organizations and community groups are driving real change by delivering mental health resources and programs that meet the unique needs of our community,” said Andy Thorne, vice-president of Fuel Services and Operational Excellence at Cameco. “Their tireless efforts are improving lives, and Cameco is proud to play a role in supporting this important work.”

This fall, Cameco announced a public call for funding allocations, and in November, submissions were adjudicated by a panel of Cameco representatives, local mental health experts and the Saskatoon Community Foundation, which is the administrator for the grants.

The 2024 Cameco Fund for Mental Health recipients are:

  • Alderville First Nation
  • Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northumberland
  • Campbellford & District Community Mental Health
