Employees at Cameco’s Blind River Refinery raised $32,000 to help the North Shore Health Network Foundation purchase a new ventilator system for the North Shore Health Network - Blind River Site, Emergency Department. The employees surpassed their goal of $22,000, resulting in additional funds to support other medical equipment needs at the NSHN Blind River Site.
From November 3 – 28, 2025, Cameco held its annual Employee Giving Campaign across the company and matched every employee donation, doubling the impact for their chosen charity.
The ventilator system was this year’s project of choice for the Blind River Refinery with the majority of employee donations going to it. This critical piece of equipment provides life-saving breathing support to patients in respiratory distress or failure. The current system is outdated in Blind River and cannot meet the growing demand for urgent care. This project will improve patient safety, reduce transfers to distant hospitals, and ensure residents can receive high-quality care close to home.
“I am incredibly proud of our employees for coming together to support such an important cause. Their dedication and generosity in raising funds for this ventilator system demonstrates the true spirit of community and compassion,” said Terry Davis, general manager of Cameco’s Blind River Refinery. “This initiative will make a meaningful difference for patients and their families at our local hospital.”
“I’m incredibly grateful to the employees at Cameco’s Blind River Refinery for choosing to generously support care right here in our community. This new ventilator will make a real difference for local patients and families when they need it most” said Amanda LaBrash, NSHN Foundation Chair.
Across all of Cameco’s Canadian sites in 2025, the Employee Giving Campaign raised $1,001,447 and benefitted 150 charities across the country. In Ontario alone, chosen charities will receive $122,642.
Cameco’s employee giving efforts have now raised $15.2 million in Canada since 2004. Cameco’s charity partner is the Saskatoon Community Foundation, which directs all the donations, pledged by credit card or payroll deductions, to the charities.
