Cameco Fund for Mental Health 2023 Awards Grants to Five Blind River area Organizations

BLIND RIVER, Ontario, Canada (December 12, 2023) – The Cameco Fund for Mental Health has awarded five grants to organizations in the Blind River area working on mental health projects. This year’s grants will benefit students, caregivers and families.

The 2nd annual Blind River Refinery Cameco Charity Golf Tournament raised $17,000 for the Cameco Fund for Mental Health. This amount, along with donations, brought the total fund to $19,000.

Since the Cameco Fund for Mental Health launched last year in the Blind River area, it has granted $32,000 including this year’s funds.

“We get a small glimpse into the needs of our local community and the important work being done by schools and organizations to help support mental health and wellness,” said Terry Davis, general manager of Cameco’s Blind River Refinery. “Thank you to all the applicants and to the community who joined together with us to help make a positive difference and keep the mental health conversation going.”

Following a call for funding applications in October, submissions were adjudicated by a panel of representatives from Cameco, local mental health experts and the Saskatoon Community Foundation, which is the administrator for the grants.

The 2023 Cameco Fund for Mental Health recipients are:

  • Blind River Public School
  • Huron Shores Family Health Team
  • W.C. Eaket
  • Huron Superior Catholic District School Board (St. Mary’s)
  • The Well Ministries
